During the period June 20-26, 61 horses changed hands via the claimbox at tracks covered by The Racing Biz.  The report covers Charles Town, Colonial Downs, Delaware Park, Monmouth Park, Parx Racing, and Penn National.

While that number was down significantly from the 80 we reported last week, it also encompasses one less day of racing.  The combined value of those horses claimed in the last week was a bit more than $624,000, with an average price of just over $10,240 and a median of $10,000.  The average declined from last week, while the median was unchanged.

Ramon Moya and Michael Pino claimed three horses to lead all trainers.  Pino’s three claims were worth a total of $36,000, tops among trainers.

Seventeen horses were claimed at Parx, making it the busiest track in the region; and the average claimed price of more than $12,500 was the highest in the region.
