North end of Pimlico grandstand to be closed for Preakness

The oldest portion of the Pimlico grandstand “is no longer suitable” for fan traffic and will be closed during the Preakness.

Leading rider Trevor McCarthy continued to clean up at Laurel Park, winning five on the Friday card.

The planned day of racing without riders carrying crops — set for April 12 — has been postponed, the Jockeys’ Guild said.
