Delaware Park has an 8-race card on tap for this Monday. Post time for the opener is 1:15 p.m., and we’ve got Delaware Park picks.

How’d we do last time at Delaware Park?

RACE NUMBERCONTENDERSCOMMENTS
Race7-10-8-1Trainer Mike Stidham is set to send out the morning line favorite in this two-year-old maiden event in #8 Comply (7-2); the Union Rags colt was well beaten on debut at Kentucky Downs but did post a respectable 50 Beyer speed fig and can improve off that. But Stidham’s other horse — #7 Night Things (6-1) — might be more interesting, as this one draws the services of one of Stidham’s main local riders, Angel Suarez. This one’s a daughter of Medaglia d’Oro out of a mare who was Group 1-placed in New Zealand and has been training forwardly for a barn that can win first out… #10 Gun Law (8-1) ran evenly sprinting at Colonial on debut, has improved since, and gets back on the lawn… #1 Petawawa (6-1) is a full brother to a stakes winner who won at first asking. Trainer Graham Motion wins 13% of the time with debuting 2yos…
Race 75-1-3-4If #5 Shyza (5-2) can stalk and pounce, she should be tough in here. She enters with two wins in her last three and with just eight starts to date, has plenty of upside still… The horse she’ll likely be chasing in the early part of this one is #3 Dreamer’s Moon (10-1), who easily defeated her two back but was a middling third last out, and we think improvement on the part of Shyza, plus the added ground today versus that last contest should give Shyza the jump. That said, if the odds discrepancy is as great as the morning line suggests, you may want to have a couple of bucks on the latter… #1 Dancer’s Melody (8-1) ran just OK last time sprinting on a sloppy, sealed main track but should give a better account of herself going two turns… #4 Getouttamyway (7-2) has acquitted herself reasonably well in her last couple versus some tough rivals but hasn’t gone a route distance in her last eight starts…
