RACE NUMBERHORSESCOMMENTS
Race 81, 3, 4, 5, 7A lot of ways to go in this one, and if we decide to trim the ticket, we’d get rid of the #1 and the #3, both of whom have obvious questions… The most intriguing runner here is #7 Jaffle (3-1); she impressed as a sophomore, winning by seven against PA-breds in maiden company while recording good speed figs – but that was some two years ago; no way to know if she’s the same horse today she was then, but if she is, she’ll be a handful… Have to give a look to #5 Key Light (6-1); the Rod Madrigal trainee has won two allowance races versus open company and been stakes placed against state-breds; the only negative here is the prior defeats at this level and the poor performance last out; the value should be there…
Race 91,3, 7We’re of two minds about #1 D T Goodie (3-1); on the one hand, he’s obviously competitive with the likes of these, having just missed two back against Grasshoppin, an earner of nearly $700k; on the other, he’s made 52 starts and is still eligible for a second-level allowance… At the other end of the spectrum is #3 Admiral Abe (5-1), a speedster who’s won four times in just 10 starts; the likely speed of the speed here, the question with him is whether he’ll stay the distance… Nothing wrong with that last effort by #7 Semi Excited (5-2), who ran third in an open allowance won by next-out stake winner Senior Investment; look for him towards the rear of the pack early but rolling late…
Race 101/1ALooks like a race to eat the chalk… While most of these have been toiling at or near the bottom of the claiming ladder, #1 Final Prospect and #1A Oldfashioned Club (9-5) both are legit starter allowance runners; the former won a starter three back at PEN, while the latter, who’s on the also-eligible list, won two back and last out, a couple weeks ago at DEL, had a useful return to action when second…
TOTAL COST$15 for a one-dollar baseAs noted above, you can trim the ticket by cutting a couple of runners out of race eight…
