In Spa Selections, Saratoga on-site correspondent Joseph Aiello provides picks for a handful of key races at Saratoga, today including the Lucky Coin Stakes!

Race 7 – OC 40000n2x

  1. #2 New York’s Finest (9-2) Jose Lezcano and Linda Rice have been dominant together this meet, winning twice with this gelding who ran five and one half furlongs in one minute last time
  2. #9 Animal Posse (7-2) Give this gelding the edge over Whatstotalkabout for win over this track and better class
  3. #11 D’funnything (15-1) Velazquez has won both races this meet with Charlton Baker, and will win a third if this dark brown gelding is able to run down New York’s Finest in the stretch

Race 9 – Alw 75000n1x

  1. #7 Sweet August Lady (6-1) Some decent pace sets it up well for this Chad Brown trainee
  2. #6 Munchkin Money (7-2) Irad Ortiz leaves to ride Frosty Lady, but this filly by Freud will win if she breaks well
  3. #10 Amazing Anne (5-1) Gets some help with the post since Frosty Lady is part of an entry and will break outside her, and should be able to get to the turn first and control the race

Race 10 – Lucky Coin Stakes

  1. #5 Dowse’s Beach (5-2) Could make a case for almost anyone in this field, but go with the best speed with the most wins on the turf
  2. #6 Big Rock (9-2) Will be sitting off of Dowse’s Beach and Loose on the Town with a good chance of taking over in the stretch run
  3. #8 Loose on the Town (3-1)Very close to going with Ready for Rye who runs better on the turf or Spring to the Sky who finally found his running style after 42 career starts, but this gelding is simply too good and very capable on the turf
