Like most of us, former teen heartthrob David Cassidy has his problems.

Among them, drinking and driving: he’s been charged with driving under the influence three times in three different states, according to Time Warner Cable News for the Albany, NY region.

Also among them: Twitter.

The actor’s lawyer had been set to accept a plea agreement, on Cassidy’s behalf, in the upstate New York town of Schodack for one of those DUI arrests.  Cassidy’s lawyer, Lucas Mihuta, was to be allowed to stand in for him because the actor lives in Florida and was seeking treatment there for alcoholism.

Except.

On Sunday, the New York Racing Association tweeted a picture that included Cassidy — at Saratoga Race Course.

Oops.

“I found out from the press on Wednesday and said, ‘Wait a minute, why can’t he appear if he’s right here in the area?'” wondered Renssselaer County First Assistant District Attorney Carmelo Laquidara, in the Albany Times Union.

The apparent answer: he can and will have to.

According to the Times Union, prosecutors have withdrawn that part of the plea agreement that allowed Cassidy to plead and be sentenced by mail.  He’ll now have to appear in Schodack Town Court.

“If he can travel here to have fun in Saratoga, he can travel here to go to court,” Laquidara told the paper. “Everyone else has to.”

Cassidy, a Thoroughbred owner and racing fan, often spends much of the summer at the races in Saratoga.  So appearing in court in Schodack probably won’t be an enormous hardship.

As for Twitter: the @DavidCassidyBT account has more than 1,900 followers — but only one Tweet to date.  That came in 2011.

It reads, “Driving down the road in my tour bus, singing* Hello world, here’s a song that we’re singing… Come on, get happy!”
