The Maryland Horse Breeders Association has announced the results of its recent election to fill five open board seats.  Terms on the 17-member board are staggered, so that roughly one-third of seats are up for election each year.MDlogo scaled

Bill Reightler, of Bill Reightler Sales Agency, won re-election to a second term, while four people were elected to first terms.  Those four are Rebecca B. Davis of Dance Forth Farm; former Maryland Million president David DiPietro; trainer and breeder Edwin Merryman, most recently in the news when his filly Jazzy Idea earned honors as top Maryland-based horse of 2012; and Josh Pons of Country Life Farm.  Davis and Pons had previously served on the board.

President Tom Bowman, Ann Merryman, Allen Murray, and JoAnn Hayden all were ineligible to run for re-election because of term limits.  More details here

The Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association has postponed its annual meeting, originally scheduled for June 6.  The meeting is held each June, as per the organization’s bylaws.  The MTHA has not announced a new date…
