In the least surprising news ever, Goldencents can walk!  All doubt about that was removed this morning when he walked the shedrow at 8 a.m.  The Derby also-ran is quickly becoming a Pimlico fave because he’s first on the grounds.  He and 10 other Doug O’Neill runners are in Barn D under the care of assistant trainer Jack Sisterson…

The field continued to develop today.  D. Wayne Lukas confirmed that Titletown Five would try his hand in the Preakness; he worked a half-mile in 47 and change this morning.  The horse was most recently fourth in the G3 Derby Trial and has only a maiden victory in seven starts…mjc scaled Preakness138colorpos72

Lukas Derby runners Oxbow and Will Take Charge are also pointed toward the Preakness, and if all three start, it’ll mark the first time since 1996 he’s brought three.  It will also give him 40 lifetime Preakness starters, including five winners, most recently Charismatic in 1999…

Another new name in the mix is Street Spice, a Greg Geier trainee most recently fifth in the G3 Illinois Derby.  The son of Street Sense has two wins from six career starts; the Illinois Derby marked his stakes debut, and he was fifth, beaten less than six, after taking the worst of the trip at 44-1 odds…
