Charles Town takes center stage this week with a monster six-stake card on Saturday, headlined by the $1.5 million, Grade 2 Charles Town Classic, for older horses going 1 1/8 miles on the main track.  The big card also includes the $200,000 Sugar Maple for fillies and mares going seven furlongs, the seven-furlong Robert Hilton Memorial going seven furlongs, the 4 1/2 furlong Webb Snyder Charles Town Dash, and a pair of state-bred stakes.  The Classic is the richest race for older horses run in North America, with the exception of the Breeders’ Cup…

Pimlico counters with the Decanter Wine Festival — which was a terrific event in 2012 — and a three-stake card on Saturday.  The day includes two stakes for the gals — the Primonetta for older fillies and mares going six furlongs on the main track and the Stormy Blues for three year-old fillies going five-eighths on the grass — as well as the Henry S.
