Preakness “Art of Racing” contest returns

The Preakness “Art of Racing” contest will return this year, as 1/ST Racing, the Maryland Institute College of Art, and Park Heights team up.

Renowned Baltimore artist Raoul Middleman, known to generations of racetrackers as the painter of Pimlico’s murals, passed away at 86.

A little-known series of murals in the Pimlico grandstand add a dash of energy, life — and art — to the old facility.
