Today’s carryovers: None

Race #1 Picks: 6-3-1-5

In this $25,000 maiden claiming race at 1 1/16 miles, #6 Martini Martin (2-1) had some good races before running second in a race taken off the turf. He almost won at this level here at Delaware in June. He has been working consistently since his last race in September and we have him on top today. #3 Dangerous Mind (8-5) has been running well and is taking a class drop for leading trainer Jamie Ness. He is a contender. #1 Jersey Gregg (8-1) will try the claiming ranks for the first time after competing in state-bred maiden special races. The class drop could put him in a position to compete.

Race #2 Picks: 4-5-1-3

In this $5000 claiming race at 5 ½ furlongs, #4 Minister Quinn (5-1) has three wins this year and two wins at Delaware. He has struggled in his last two but could improve today. #5 He’s a Shooter (9-5) just missed when he dropped to this claiming level in last. He has not run since July but has been working and if he can repeat the 71 speed figure he can win. #1 Remembering Wilbur (5-2) had some good races at his level during the summer. Now moving back to dirt and dropping and should improve today.

Race #3 Picks: 3-6-4-1

In this $32,000 maiden optional claiming race at 5 ½ furlongs, #3 Ben’s Hero (6-5) has run second three races in a row. His speed figures are superior to his foes and he appears to be the best of this group.  #6 John Jay (6-1) will be making his third start of the year. He showed early speed against better in last and should be competitive against this group of horses. #4 Amanwalksintoabar (3-1) has not run since March but had some decent races at Turfway Park. Trainer Michael Stidham has won at 25% in 48 attempts when his horses have been away for 180 days or more.

Race #4 Picks: 6-3-4-7

In this $25,000 maiden claiming race for two-year-old fillies at six furlongs, #6 Wilpic (3-1) will be making her third attempt at this class level. She improved last time out and should do better in his third race over this track. #3 Just the Thing (6-1) has a few decent races at higher class levels and is dropping in company today. She has shown some early speed and that speed could hold with this group. #4 Big Bolt (2-1) has been running in maiden special races and will try maiden claimers for the first time. The class relief could help her improve.

Race #5 Picks: 1-8-6-3

In this $6250 N3L claiming race for fillies and mares at one mile, #1 Grand Arrow (9-5) is moving down the claiming ladder. She ran evenly with $12,500 claimers and may have found an easy spot with this field. She has three wins in ten starts and has a good chance to get her fourth win today. #8 Chem Major (9-2) has been in the mix at this level recently. She seldom runs a bad race and should be involved again today. #6 Gun of Gold (3-1) won a N2L race last time out and will now try N3L. This horse has lots of early speed and should be in the mix again today.

Joe’s Notes

  • Jockey Angel Arroyo swept the early double, while meet leader Jaime Rodriguez took the fifth and sixth races to pad his lead in the standings…
  • Trepat made it three straight wins and five in his last six starts when he won the fifth race, a claimer for older runners, as the 7-10 favorite. Jaime Rodriguez was up for leading trainer Jamie Ness…

Race #6 Picks: 2-7-6-1

In this $50,000 maiden optional claiming race for two-year-old fillies at 5 ½ furlongs, #2 Scream Machine (4-1) is a first time starter that has been working well, including a bullet five-furlong work. Trainer McLean Robertson has won at 25% in 57 attempts for a $3.28 ROI with first-time starters. #7 Bold Baby (2-1) has run well twice against $50,000 claimers.  She has two races under her belt and is a top contender. #6 Pesadilla Chanel (8-1) is a first-time starter who has been working well. One to consider.

Race #7 Picks: 10-6-3-9

In this $6250 N2L claiming race for fillies and mares at 5 ½ furlongs, #10 And Whistle (7-2) is working her way down the claiming ladder and will be making her first start at Delaware Park. She is taking the blinkers off and has lots of early speed which should help today. She has a good chance for the top spot today. #6 Bali Moon (5-2) will be making her third start of the year. She ran well last time out and is moving down in class. She looks like a contender. #3 General Robinson (4-1) has been showing early speed in turf routes and will now try sprinting on the dirt. The change in conditions could help her improve.

Race #8 Picks: 7-6-3-4

In this $32,000 maiden optional claiming race for fillies and mares at 5 ½ furlongs, #7 I’m Bleu Too (2-1) has been showing early speed in state-bred maiden special races at Canterbury and is now coming to Delaware. She appears to be in a good spot against this group. #6 My Sassy Valentine (4-1) is a first-time-starter with several bullet works. One to consider. #3 Cherie Amour (3-1) tried a maiden special race on the turf and is now moving to dirt. She could improve with the surface change.
