Race 4 – Grade II Shuvee Stakes

1. #2 Nest (4-5) – Easily beat the three year olds here last year, and despite not racing since the Breeder’s Cup in November, this filly by Curlin should be a bit closer to the lead with Irad Ortiz

2. #4 Clairiere (3-5) – Won this race last year and is a winner of two straight, but Nest is a tad better at handling nine furlongs and up, while this mare could use a slower pace here

3. #1 Skratch Kat (20-1) – No show or trifecta betting in this field, and it seems unlikely that this filly by Arrogate or Pistol Liz Ablazen can win here, but maybe she can find her way to place

Race 8 – Clm 32000

1. #4 Tass (9-2) – Is four for eight at this distance, and despite not being able to win last time on the drop into claiming, this mare may be overlooked and better value than the morning line

2. #6 Blue Times (4-1) – Seems to have a clear speed advantage over the field, and comes off an impressive wire to wire win in allowance company last time which would win here

3. #7 R Calli Kim (6-1) – Hasn’t raced in over a year, but returns to a more manageable distance and should be moving late especially if the pace heats up

4. #10 Cafe Fleur (7-2) – Comes off a long layoff from October and a tougher post here, but won last time out and appeared to turn a corner when dropped into claiming company

Race 9 – OC 45000n2x

1. #2 Big Engine (3-1) – Will be best suited closing with Luis Saez as opposed to being near the front, and seems to be geared towards seven furlongs where he has won once in two tries

2. #4 Andiamo a Firenze (5-1) – Adds lasix and is the classiest of this bunch, and should be near the lead with Majority Partner with a good chance here if the pace is slower

3. #5 Majority Partner (9-5) – Won both tries here last year, plus Lezcano has a good winning percentage with Linda Rice who is off to a hot start this meet

4. #3 Market Alert (6-1) – Hasn’t been in top form recently, but has a few races that would put him in the mix with the right stalking trip

Race 10 – MC 40000

1. #4 Three Girls (4-1) – Drops out of an open company maiden into this state bred maiden claimer and should improve purely based on that decrease in class

2. #7 Dance With Me Babe (7-2) – Has the early running style that could make her a threat to wire this field at five and a half plus she has been improving

3. #5 Red Butterfly (6-1) – Ran much closer to her solid debut last time out when dropping to maiden claimers, and now gets a second crack at this group at what could be fair value

4. #8 Lakeside Getaway (5-1) – Doesn’t seem like the likeliest of winners, but has been relatively consistent and also falls down to claiming company from state bred maidens
