Off to the Races Radio presented by The Racing Biz returns Feb. 18 for a brand-new season on the air, and it’s getting out of the gate quickly.

The one-hour program will air each Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. on ESPN Richmond (106.1 FM) and via livestreaming. It will feature news and conversation about Thoroughbred racing and breeding in Virginia, around the Mid-Atlantic, and across the nation.

Nick Hahn will host with support from Frank Vespe. Derby Bill Watson will join each week to provide his handicapping insights and special brand of humor.

“With Triple Crown prep races starting to heat up, great racing throughout the Mid-Atlantic, and an exciting Colonial Downs season coming in the summer, we’re excited to bring back Off to the Races Radio for another fun season,” said Frank Vespe, owner and publisher of The Racing Biz, which presents the program. “Off to the Races is the longest-running racing radio show in the region, and we’re lookingforward to bringing in great guests and talking racing throughout the year.

Saturday’s show kicks off the new season in style. Guests are scheduled to include Lynn Cash and Larry Rivelli. Cash, a trainer, didn’t start his training career until he was in his mid-50s, but just two years later, he’ll send out three horses in Saturday’s Grade 3 General George at Laurel Park.

Rivelli is a winner of more than 1,750 races in his training career. On Saturday he’ll send out Two Phil’s in the day’s most important Kentucky Derby prep, the Risen Star at the Fair Grounds in New Orleans. Two Phil’s broke his maiden last summer at Colonial Downs.

Sponsors include the Virginia Thoroughbred Association, Virginia Equine Alliance, Virginia Harness Horse Association, and others. The program will air each Saturday through early November’s Breeders’ Cup.

“We appreciate our sponsors who support Off to the Races,” Vespe said. “And we especially appreciate all of our listeners.”

Each week’s show will be archived on TheRacingBiz.com.
