Charles Town: Latest jockey ratings through April 10

Amid some shuffling in the Charles Town jockey rankings, the red-hot Christian Hiraldo won with seven of 28 starters in the last couple of weeks to retain the top spot.
Hiraldo has 343.60 ratings points, giving him the advantage over Antonio Lopez (325.48) and Arnaldo Bocachica (318.53). He slightly extended his lead from two week back.
Our ranking system incorporates wins, wins percentage, earnings per start, and wagering return on investment. The leading rider in each category receives a score of 100 per category, with other jocks obtaining a percentage of that. That means that a leader in all four categories would receive a score of 400 total.
The rating system is designed to highlight individuals who win frequently, and score in major races. Our stats have been applied to each jockey at Charles Town who has competed in at least 30 races and won at least once.
Hiraldo is second in the colony with 32 wins, just two behind meet leader Gerald Almodovar. He also is third with earnings per start of $3,208.
Hiraldo’s overall strength gives him the edge over second-place jock Antonio Lopez. Lopez leads the colony in strike rate, winning 24.36 percent of the time. He also leads it in earnings per start at $3.875.
Bocachica moved up from fifth place two weeks back to third after a period in which he won with seven of 20 starters over the strip, with an additional win at Laurel, for good measure. Bocachica is now third in wins and win percentage, and his earnings per start of $3,363 rank second.
The top five are rounded by out by J. D. Acosta (303.82 points) and Gerald Almodovar (301.68). Acosta has been the colony’s most generous jockey to bettors with a meet-leading wagering return on investment of $2.50 for each $2.00 win wager on his horses. Almodovar’s 34 wins are tops in the colony.
