From a Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races release

Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races has partnered with TVG, the largest online wagering company and horse racing network in the United States, and will become the first full-time thoroughbred track in the evening simulcast market to broadcast its races in high definition on the network.  The change to high definition is expected in the coming weeks and will allow Charles Town to join the New York Racing Association, Keeneland and Del Mar on the list of thoroughbred tracks in the U.S. offering a high definition signal through TVG.

“It’s an exciting development for Charles Town to partner with TVG and broaden the distribution of our high definition signal to fans from around the country,” said Erich Zimny, Charles Town’s Vice President of Racing Operations.  “Our partnership should allow us to grow our presence in the evening simulcast market while offering our races in a much more fan friendly and visually appealing format in the process.”

TVG began broadcasting in high definition in April 2014 and will increase the exposure for HD telecasts of races from Charles Town under the terms of the agreement.

“We look forward to presenting Charles Town racing in HD,” said Kip Levin, TVG’s CEO. “Beginning in 2014 we became the racing industry’s pioneer in offering full-time, coast-to-coast HD telecasting, and this partnership with Charles Town is yet another example of our commitment to delivering a state-of-the-art product to our viewers and customers.”

Live racing at Charles Town is currently conducted from Wednesday through Saturday evenings with a first post of 7:00pm EST.  The track’s premier event, the $1,500,000 Charles Town Classic (G2), will be run on April 18, with a special start time of 12:45pm EST.

TVG, a subsidiary of Betfair Group plc, the premier e-gaming betting community, is among the most widely distributed horseracing networks in the world. TVG is one of the largest legal online gaming companies in the US, accepting over $1 billion in wagers annually. The company has demonstrated its commitment to the racing industry, its owners, tracks and fans through sponsorship of several preeminent races including the TVG Pacific Classic and TVG Super Saturday.
