The Laurel Racing Association, the Maryland Jockey Club subsidiary that runs Laurel Park, scored a victory today when Anne Arundel County Circuit Court Judge William Mulford granted the Association a temporary restraining order, according to court records.

That order means that the County’s proposed auction of the Laurel Park property — undertaken to recover what the County claims is millions of dollars in unpaid taxes — will not immediately take place.  The auction had been scheduled for June 3.

The temporary restraining order is slated to expire on June 12, unless the judge extends it.

The court also required the company to file a bond in the amount of $1,918,734.  Pending the posting of the bond, the judge ordered Laurel Racing Association to provide the court a check in that amount, which, court records indicate, it has done.
