  • Donna Freyer S. (PRX) — Aunt Ellipsis, trainer Keith LeBarron, owner Vince Campanella, bred in Pennsylvania by Truxton Stables
  • Christopher Elser S. (PRX) — Elevated, trainer Phil Schoenthal, owner D Hatman Thoroughbreds and Kingdom Bloodstock Inc., bred in Pennsylvania by Nina H. Gardner[/boxify]

In a pair of South Carolina residency races at Parx Racing, favorites had the best of things.  In the filly event, the Donna Freyer Stakes, 2-5 Aunt Ellipsis (“it’ll be hard to see much past Aunt Ellipsis,” we said) dominated the field by nearly four lengths under rider Luis Hiraldo, with Chubbiana second and Je Suis Enchantee third.  In the boys’ version, the Christopher Elser, Elevated (“He’ll find the company more congenial here, and he’s been working well,” we said) was part of an entry bet down from 7-2 to 7-10 — ouch.  He won under rider Frankie Pennington, barely holding off the other half of the entry, Sonny Inspired, by a nose.  Geaux Mets finished third…

Odds-on Favorite Tale remained undefeated at Parx on Saturday, earning his second win from two starts with a 1 1/2-length win in a first-level allowance for Pennsylvania-breds.  Trained by Guadalupe Preciado and ridden by Jose Flores, Favorite Tale covered 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:15.12 on a very fast main track, more than one second faster than the horses in the Elser managed the same distance.  In his debut, Favorite Tale had clocked six furlongs in 1:07.66…

Two wins on the day for trainer Louis Linder, Jr.  Dilatory took a $12,500 claiming race for Linder, and then Time Walker benefited on the drop from maiden special to maiden claiming, winning off by seven lengths in 1:09 4/5 for six furlongs…

At Laurel Park, nine different trainers posted wins on Saturday, as did eight different riders.  Trevor McCarthy was the only rider to win twice…

Horses on the outside continued to thrive at Laurel.  Winners’ comments included “wide,” “4wd,” “6wd,” and even “7wd.”…

Jevian Toledo, who won once at Laurel, also added a win at Charles Town when he piloted 12-1 Go Doctor O Go to a nearly three length win in state-bred allowance company.  The four year-old filly, trained by Anthony Lucas, has now won two of eight career starts — but two of her last three.  She covered 4 1/2 furlongs in 53 3/5 seconds on a muddy, sealed track and topped a $250 exacta…

Princess Janelle won the evening’s other allowance event, a first allowance/optional claimer at the $12,500 level, by three-quarters of a length for trainer Mike Rone and rider T. D. Houghton.  It was the eight year-old mare’s 13th win from 35 career starts and pushed her career earnings north of $150,000…

Saturday’s races at Penn National were canceled…

On Sunday at Parx Racing, Jorge Vargas, Jr. and Hector Caballero won three races each…

Those wins were good news for trainers Andrew Simoff and Mario Serey, Jr.  Two of Vargas’ wins came for Simoff, while two of Caballero’s came for Serey…

An even dozen horses changed hands via claims on Sunday at Parx.  Marcos Zulueta and Patricia Farro took three each, while John Servis lost three…
