The only fair meet in the East has released its condition book for the coming season.

Timonium, located just outside of Baltimore, will race 10 days at the Maryland State Fair this year, kicking off the meet on Friday, August 23.  With slots revenues kicking in, purses are up for the meet, which will end on Monday, September 2.  A first-level allowance, for example, will carry a $31,000 purse, significantly more than in recent years.

Though no stakes are scheduled, the track has included in the book several open allowances, with no restrictions on entry, carrying $35,000 purses.

The meet had been seven days in most recent years, but the Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association voted in June to subsidize three additional days (here).
