At a ceremony following Saturday’s second race, the Maryland Horse Breeders Association, Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred Magazine, and The Racing Biz were pleased to announce the winner of their first-ever Preakness Grand Giveaway!
The winner, Tim Hackerman of Baltimore, MD, received two free tickets for the day — and a $1,000 win wager on the horse of his choice at the Preakness. He received the prizes in a winner’s circle ceremony following the second, which was the Deputed Testamony Starter Handicap for Maryland-breds.
Asked what he would do if he won on a long-priced horse, Hackerman replied: “We’d go to the Fasig-Tipton sale on Monday and use it to buy a Maryland-bred!”
