Business is booming at Charles Town Races, according to an AP story (here).

Charles Town wagering set a monthly handle record in April, posting more than $24 million.  That record number for the West Virginia track — a shade more than last April — was driven in large part by the April 20 Charles Town Classic.  That evening of racing generated nearly $4.4 million in handle, the highest ever at the track.

Overall, the track averaged more than $1.3 million in handle per live racing day — coincidentally, approximately the same amount wagered on the Classic itself, if one includes multi-race wagers of which it was a part.
