From a Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races release

Due to encountering unforeseen circumstances with the track resurfacing scheduled following the Charles Town Classic, live racing at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races on both Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7 has been cancelled.

The current resurfacing is one of two the track at Charles Town undergoes each year. Pending the precipitation and weather moving through the area, live racing is scheduled to resume on Wednesday, May 11 at the standard first post time of 7:00 P.M. EST.

In order to accommodate the races cancelled over the weekend, Charles Town will be adding a ninth and tenth race to its program when it reopens on May 11 and a ninth race for the subsequent 14 days. Those additional races will be on top of the typical 8 race program the track currently employs.

Simulcasting will continue on a normal schedule with the windows opening up at 9:30 A.M. EST on both Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby days. The Skyline Terrace restaurant will be closed on Friday, but open between the hours of 3:00 P.M. EST and 7:00 P.M. in order to accommodate patrons coming to watch and wager on the Kentucky Derby and other races from Churchill Downs and around the country.

A silent auction with proceeds going to benefit the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund that includes framed, autographed photographs of Secretariat signed by jockey Ron Turcotte, American Pharoah signed by jockey Victor Espinoza, American Pharoah winning the Kentucky Derby signed by trainer Bob Baffert, and a collage of American Pharoah’s Triple Crown victories also signed by Bob Baffert will go on as scheduled and will be held in the mezzanine of the grandstand between the hours of 3:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

During the week when live racing resumes beginning on May 11, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races will also be hosting the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales for a pair of shows on May 12 and May 14 between 5:00 P.M. EST and 8:00 P.M. EST.
