We catch up on the latest jockey and trainer statistics from Delaware Park. Who’s hot (and not)?
As the meet goes on, we’ll focus on total wins, added wins (above what odds would have predicted), and percentage of purse earned. In these early weeks, though, our stats will be simpler.
The numbers:
DELAWARE PARK JOCKEYS
The table below is sortable on all of its columns and includes every rider to have made at least 10 starts at the meet… Jaime Rodriguez won with eight of 21 starters, including all five of his mounts on Saturday, and now has a 9-win lead over Martin Chuan, with Julio Hernandez one behind him… Chuan went 5-for-13… Gabriel Maldonado and Hernandez both won three races during the week, while Francisco Martinez and Jose Batista won twice each… Eleven riders have won at least 10 races… 14 riders won at least once during the week… Chuan has a solid lead with 11.63 added wins, comparing the number of wins a rider has recorded to the number the odds of their mounts would have predicted… That’s almost five added wins ahead of Jose Batista, who is second, with Jorge Ruiz third in limited action… The range of all riders is 11.63 to (-5.28)… Ruiz leads all riders in percent of purse earned at over 37%, while Jean Briceno (4-for-10) is second at 32%… Among the top 10 riders by starts, Jaime Rodriguez leads with 19.24% of purse earned…
