Delaware Park picks and analysis: August 2, 2025
Picks and analysis for this afternoon’s card from Delaware Park:
- RACES ON CARD: 8
- CARRYOVERS: None
- POST TIME: 12:30 p.m.
RACE 1
4. Level Up | We’re inclined to think that likely fave Kerness will be a bet-against in this spot on the big drop off the break; this guy will be one-two early |
2. Braggadocious | Outmatched by better in latest but fits here and could get a good trip |
7. Funkenstein | Late-running sort doesn’t win much but could be along for a piece |
RACE 2
5. Mysunshinegirl | RNA’ed twice before selling for a song in February, so there are obviously issues, but certainly this one’s bred to be better than these |
2. Rama Bama Lana | Solid debut when first past the post but DQed after shutting off a foe, made a mild middle move before emptying out versus better in latest |
6. Seth’s War Song | Has kept better company |
RACE 3
5. Estilo Magico | Likely sits a good trip off a couple of speeds and has a chance to pick ’em up late |
4. Rolly | Look for this one to be hard-sent early after a pair of suboptimal trips, one coming when exchanging bumps with a rival |
7. Capitan George | Stuck with it even after getting headed |

RACE 4
4. Bella Italia | OFF THE TURF: Half-sis to mutliple graded-winning millionaire Plainsman for a barn that can win first out |
3. Bold Boss | Solid debut last year here splitting two who won their follow-ups; solid work tab in preparation for first since last September |
2. Stop Watch | A $285k RNA as a yearling, this miss is by high-end sire Not This Time; trainer Lynch has a 2.83 ROI with older debut runners |
RACE 5
5. Haleigh B | Improved outing in latest and better efforts could get it done here |
4. Salagadoola | Has won last two and been devalued after each; sure feels like they’re trying to get her sold |
1. Hi Heeled Warrior | If the pace heats up, this is one they’ll have to turn back; owns three wins on off tracks |
RACING NOTES
- Jockey and trainer standings through last Saturday…
- Hot-riding Martin Chuan won three on Friday, scoring with Phil’s on the Run ($6.20), Our Day Will Come ($5.20), and Bee Bluff ($3.40). The winners were trained by Ned Allard, Phil Capuano, and Lindsay Schultz, respectively…
- Eight different trainers were on the board…
RACE 6
6. Maddie Ten | Sharp score on the dropdown in latest; repeat wins here |
9. Spanish Delight | Drawn outside other major speed player; return to spring form would be good enough |
1. Simmering | Solid try three back behind next-out winner Chelsea Wall |
RACE 7
5. Heat Alert | OFF THE TURF: First outing in the Padilla barn, which has a 6.23 ROI (!) first off the claim; has some solid outings down the page a bit |
7. Makoa | Best result of five from latest who are here; kept on trying |
8. Steady John | Should find this group more congenial than allowance foes from latest |
RACE 8
4. Brooklyn Rhapsody | Four-time winner shifts into Ness barn for first time (29% with a positive ROI angle) |
7. Nanisca | Paddock scratch July 26; has shrugged off heat from 3-5 and 3-10 favorites in two victories |
8. No Walk Inthe Park | Second or third in nine of 17 starts; makes third start off the bench |
