Monmouth Park has canceled Friday’s scheduled eight-race card because excessive heat, track officials announced. The mid-day temperature in Oceanport was 93 degrees but felt like 104, according to weather.com.

The track said that Friday’s canceled races will be brought back as extras for Friday, Aug. 1, and the racing office will also look to use them over next weekend.

Entries will be taken on Sunday, July 27, for next Friday’s card.

Racing is expected to take place as scheduled Saturday with a first post of 12:50 p.m. The day’s feature is the $250,000, Grade 3 Monmouth Oaks, which is led by multiple stakes winner Running Away (2-1) and Grade 3 Delaware Oaks winner Fondly (5-2).
