Delaware Park picks and analysis: July 23, 2025
Picks and analysis for this afternoon’s card from Delaware Park:
- RACES ON CARD: 9
- CARRYOVERS: None
- POST TIME: 12:30 p.m.
RACE 1
6. Swift Tap | Didn’t fire in latest after wide journey but projects as main speed here and isn’t far removed from races that win this |
7. Bird King | Veteran just missed in latest behind runner extending win streak to three while well clear of the rest |
1. Belts ‘n Brooks | Has faced better |
RACE 2
5. Williston Warrior | Bet down to chalk in debut and ran a decent enough race; can move forward here |
3. Mac Daddyness | A half to two first-out winners, he appears to have been working with the filly Witchyness who broke her maiden Saturday with a Beyer fig of 45 |
4. Manoah’s Glory | Ignored by the bettors and showed little in debut, but trainer Delgado has huge numbers (and positive ROI) dropping juveniles from special weight to claiming company |
RACE 3
6. Jayjaydee | 22-time winner exits a plus heat from which all five to run back finished in the top three, gets leading trainer’s go-to rider up |
7. Amedeus Music | Makes third start off the bench and second in the Sullivan barn after decent try versus allowance foes |
5. Catatumbo | Consistent sort churns out good races time after time; lack of early zip the only concern here |

RACE 4
7. Reppazz | Will quite possibly be winging it on the front end again and could go a long way in first in the claiming ranks; trainer Bennett is 3-for-14 off similar layoffs with a gaudy 4.56 ROI, and Crispin remains aboard |
3. Pegster | Willing when chasing 2-5 winner in latest; gets Lasix on in second off the bench |
9. Galatina | Showed improved speed in seasonal bow; trainer Brion got her a turf work in the interim and liked what she saw enough to head here; siblings and Vino Rosso offspring both OK in turf routes |
RACE 5
1. Sway’sinmydna | Has two recent wins and excuses in between; bold move to the front and just had enough to hold off next-out winner Granted Success in latest |
4. Mat Matters | Inclined to think cutback to sprint distance and easier group help this one return to better form after poor last outing |
7. Fight Fiercely | Near-misses in last two and makes third start off the bench |
RACING NOTES
- Jockey Martin Chuan swept the late double Saturday to keep his hot streak going. He won with Divine Grace ($7.60) for trainer Jamie Ness and on Granted Success ($9.40) for Michael Simone…
- Jamie Ness won two Saturday, as well. In addition to Divine Grace, he also saddled debut winner Witchyness ($11.00), who won a 2-year-old maiden special with Jaime Rodriguez up…
RACE 6
7. Chillow | Credible try in latest in first of the year; runner-up from that event had been second in earlier maiden special at AQU |
1. High Hearts | Good try in off-the-turf event that still had 10 in the gate |
3. Cheese N Crackers | Three sibs ran in the money on debut, including a first-out winner; half to a turf stakes winner, which might ultimately be this one’s preferred surface |
RACE 7
10. Shy Shy | Makes third start off the bench and has better races to run back to |
2. Aranciata | Not sure she beat much in latest turf outing but did it impressively; repeat puts her in the mix |
11. Dark Dutchess | Stretches out to ‘tweener distance after sticking to one turn for last 11 starts; trainer Neilson having a productive meet |
RACE 8
7. Summer’s Comin | Might sit a good trip off a couple of speedy types and enters in solid form; four of her five career wins have come against NJ-breds |
6. Mudslide | Didn’t run a bad race in latest when dropped from N2X company and should be part of the pace again |
4. Old Bay | Consistent sort had no answers for 1-2 winner in latest but doesn’t see anyone like that rival here |
RACE 9
1. Star of Abraham | Speedy sort ran a good one in seasonal bow when second to 4-5 class dropper; might be speed again |
4. Superlastingsecret | Figs say he ought to win here |
7. Bodkin Creek | Debut outing for Dibben homebred who’s by a sire with just 10 registered offspring and is her dam’s first to race |
