We catch up on the latest jockey and trainer statistics from Delaware Park. Who’s hot (and not)?

As the meet goes on, we’ll focus on total wins, added wins (above what odds would have predicted), and percentage of purse earned. In these early weeks, though, our stats will be simpler.

JOCKEY TOP 10 WINS

Martin Chuan has won with nine of 22 mounts in the last two weeks to pace all riders at Delaware and was 4-of-10 last week, also tops. That’s enabled him to move into second in the jockey standings by wins with one more than Julio Hernandez… Jaime Rodriguez and Angel Cruz each won three times last week, with Cruz going 3-for-6… Jorge Ruiz, Gabriel Maldonado, Julio Hernandez, and Jorge Gonzalez Sanchez all won twice… 15 riders won at least one race

JOCKEY TOP 10 PERCENTAGE OF PURSE EARNED

Jorge Ruiz, 10-of-26 in limited action at the track, leads in percentage of purse earned with over 37%… Five riders among the top 10 in wins are also in the top 10 in percentage of purse earned, including the one-two punch of Jaime Rodriguez and Martin Chuan…

JOCKEY TOP 10 BY ADDED WINS

Twenty-three of the 47 riders who have made at least seven starts are in positive territory in added wins, comparing the number of victories they have recorded to the number the odds of their mounts would have predicted… Chuan has opened a solid lead in this category, with 8.40 more wins than his odds would have predicted, while Jose Batista (3-for-6 in the last two weeks) has moved into second… The range of all riders is 8.40 to (-4.42)…

TRAINERS TOP 10 BY WINS

Jaime Ness continues to be on a heater, having won with eight of 15 starters in the last two weeks, and is winning at a 42% clip… Ness, Greg Compton, and Victor Carrasco, Jr. all won twice last week, the only trainers to win multiple races… Twenty-three trainers won at least once…

TRAINERS TOP 10 BY PERCENTAGE OF PURSE EARNED

Among trainers with at least seven starts to date, the top 10 in percentage of purse earned looks like this… Graham Motion is enjoying a productive meet, pulling in 40% of available purse money… Four trainers among the top 10 in wins are also in the top 10 in this category…

TOP TRAINERS BY ADDED WINS

Thirty-one of 68 trainers with seven or more starts are in positive territory in added wins, comparing their total victories to the number of wins the odds of their runners would have predicted… The range of all trainers is 10.27 to (-4.24)…
