We catch up on the latest jockey and trainer statistics from Charles Town Races. Who’s hot (and not)?

We break it down: total wins, percentage of purse money earned, added wins, and, new this week, wins in most recent 50 starts (jockeys) or 25 starts (trainers).

The numbers:

JOCKEY TOP 10 WINS

Arnaldo Bocachica had a huge week, winning with eight of his 18 mounts as he continues (once again) to run up the score in wins during the Charles Town meet… Boca wasn’t the only one to have a good week, though: Marshall Mendez went 5-for-14, while Sunday Diaz, Jr., Angel Cruz, and JD Acosta all won three times… The five wins enabled Mendez to jump back ahead of Christian Maldonado into second… The top 10 is otherwise unchanged…

JOCKEY TOP 10 PERCENTAGE OF PURSE EARNED

Bocachica expanded his lead in percentage of purse earned to date… With his five wins, Marshall Mendez moved from seventh to fourth… Victor Rodriguez (13.32%) and Fredy Peltroche (13.25%) are just outside the top 10… Six riders are under 5%…

JOCKEY TOP 10 BY ADDED WINS

Angel Cruz (3-for-15 last week) took over the top spot narrowly from the winless-last-week Victor Rodriguez in added wins, comparing a jockey’s actual wins to what the odds of his or her mounts would have predicted… New in the top 10 this week are JD Acosta (3-for-16), Arnaldo Bocachica (8-for-18), and Sunday Diaz, Jr. (3-for-15)… The full range is 6.07 to (-10.65)…

JOCKEY TOP 10 BY WINS IN THEIR LAST 50 STARTS

This simply looks at the number of wins each jockey has posted in his or her last 50 starts… 25 riders qualify, having made at least 50 starts at the meet…

TRAINERS TOP 10 BY WINS

Jeff Runco won with seven of 15 starters (plus five others in the money) to move within shouting distance of the lead pair of Ronney Brown and Anthony Farrior; six of Runco’s winners came with Arnaldo Bocachica up… Brown was winless last week, while Farrior went 3-for-13 to close the gap between the pair… Other multiple winners were Cynthia McKee, Mike Jones, Jr., and Lela Hanagan, all with two wins, with Hanagan going 2-for-2…

TRAINERS TOP 10 BY PERCENTAGE OF PURSE EARNED

Minor shuffling in the order of the top 10 but the trainers comprising it remain the same as last week…

TRAINER TOP 10 BY ADDED WINS

With a huge week and nine wins in his last 25 starts, Jeff Runco has opened a huge lead in added wins, comparing a trainer’s actual wins to what the odds of his or her starters would have predicted… Despite a winless week, Ronney Brown remains in second… Kristy Gazzier (1-for-2 during the week) moved into the top 10… The range of all trainers is 11.43 to (-9.20)…

TRAINER TOP 10 BY WINS IN THEIR LAST 25 STARTS

This simply looks at the number of wins each trainer has posted in his or her last 25 starts… 10 trainers have won with four of their last 25 starters… 35 trainers have made at least 25 starts at the meet…
