Laurel Park stakes: Fair odds board

Laurel Park has five stakes on the agenda for April 23, and The Racing Biz has a free handicapping contest.

So we wondered: How do our contest players see the stakes playing out? Using their selections as our guide, we calculated the fair odds of each horse in each of the five stakes races. Here’s what they came up with:

The 5 1/2-furlong, grassy Leatherbury has attracted an evenly matched field of 10, and while there’s a 2-1 morning line fave, our ‘cappers didn’t see it quite as simply:

3. True Valour7-2
9. Battle Station5-1
2. Grateful Bred5-1
1. American d’Oro10-1
6. Ima Pharoah10-1
5. Can the Queen14-1
4. Fair Catch14-1
7. Valued Notion26-1
10. Rad Paisley43-1
8. Dendrobia215-1

The six-furlong Primonetta for fillies and mares has attracted seven, including two — Princess Kokachin and Street Lute — from the Jerry Robb barn.

4. Princess Kokachin5-2
7. Kaylasaurus7-2
6. Street Lute5-1
3. Prodigy Doll9-1
5. Cinnabunny11-1
1. Hope Has a Name17-1
2. Paisley Singing23-1

Fillies and mares will go a mile on the turf in this contest, which often produces one or more runners for the Grade 3 Gallorette, which is part of the Preakness undercard. Linemaker Keith Feustle has made In a Hurry the 2-1 favorite, and our ‘cappers would be happy to take those odds.

6. In a Hurry9-5
5. Traffic Song7-1
8. Adelaide Miss7-1
10. Deciding Vote12-1
3. Out of Sorts15-1
7. Foggy Dreams19-1
4. Coconut Cake21-1
9. Tic Tic Tic Boom35-1
1. Fionnbharr35-1
2. Mucha Mezquina43-1
11. Dontletsweetfoolya43-1
12. Double Fireball43-1

The nine-furlong Native Dancer on the main track has a somewhat modest group of seven runners scheduled to face the starter with Parx shippers Forewarned and Bird King likely to take the most action. Our ‘cappers see it as largely a three-horse affair.

2. Forewarned7-2
5. Bird King7-2
4. Workin On a Dream7-2
7. Plot the Dots7-1
6. Ain’t Da Beer Cold12-1
1. Rough Sea26-1
3. Big Venezuela35-1

It’s a compact field of seven slated for this contest, with two — Field Pass and Chez Pierre — likely to take the most money. That’s what the morning line says, and that’s how our ‘cappers see it:

6. Field Pass2-1
7. Chez Pierre3-1
1. Mandate7-1
3. Sir Alfred James11-1
5. Oceans Map11-1
2. Highway Bound17-1
4. Rock On Luke19-1
