RACE NUMBERCONTENDERSCOMMENTS
Race 82-4-6-5Top choice #2 Wildcat Cartridge (7-2) enters this starter contest in good form, with a two-other-than win at Penn National last out and three straight in-the-money finishes prior to that. For good measure, she loves this one-mile journey (3-for-7)… #4 I’m Not Joking (4-1) was thrashed last out in two-other-than company over the strip but was a good second two back against similar to these at Pimlico and has some good efforts to run back to… First off the claim for #6 Squan’s Kingdom (3-1), who’s won two straight versus lesser… #5 Finding Perfection (12-1) isn’t in good form of late but could benefit from the change of scenery and has better efforts on the resume…
Race 93-1-4-2Let’s see if #3 Arkaan (7-2) can get back on track in this six-furlong allowance test. The Into Mischief colt, a $450,000 yearling, won his first two sprinting in impressive fashion and then was a pretty good third in the Pegasus around two turns. Since, he was outsprinted in the G3 Chick Lang by Yaupon, who went off the favorite in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint, and then faded in the final furlong going seven. Getting back to his best distance, he might be able to find the promise he showed earlier… #1 Mount Travers (5-2) certainly has some good tries in his recent past, including a near-miss second in a Saratoga allowance, but will make his first start off a two-plus month break here… Four back #4 Cozy Lover (15-1) bested similar over the strip but must return to better form… #2 Frank’sgunisloaded (3-1) has shown plenty of promise in his brief career but hasn’t raced since March and now makes his first start in the Gonzalez barn; Gonzalez is 7-for-40 bringing horses back off long layoffs, one of his least effective angles, and this one looks likely to want more ground…
