From a Maryland Jockey Club release

The Maryland Jockey Club (MJC), the Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (MTHA) and the Maryland Horse Breeders Association (MHBA) today announced the stakes schedule for the 2014 Laurel Park winter meet.

The plan still needs approval from the Maryland Racing Commission at its December 17 meeting.

The $300,000 Barbara Fritchie Handicap (G2) on February 15 and the $250,000 General George Handicap (G3) two days later headline the 16 stakes program: http://www.laurelpark.com/horsemen/stakes-schedule.

The winter stand begins January 1 and will include 46 live racing days over a 13-week period with live racing taking place on a Thursday through Saturday schedule with holiday exceptions for the first eight weeks of the year. Wednesday racing will be added in late February for the balance of the meet.
