Crude Velocity is Preakness future wager favorite

Grade 2 Pat Day Mile winner Crude Velocity is a strong favorite in the Preakness future wager that closed Saturday.
The undefeated Bob Baffert trainee was 4-1 when wagering closed at 6:00 p.m. Saturday. No other runner was less than the 10-1 odds of Renegade. Others to see some action included Further Ado (11-1) and Commandment (12-1).

Crude Velocity was purchased for $250,000 as a two-year-old and is owned by CSLR Racing Partners LLC. In yesterday’s Pat Day Mile, he pressed the speedy Englishman early before drawing off to win by 3 ¾ lengths as the 3-2 favorite. The win improved his record to 3-for-3, and he has earned $522,820.
Golden Tempo, upset winner of yesterday’s Kentucky Derby, ended up at 70-1 in the Preakness future wager. Runner-up Renegade was 10-1, while show horse Ocelli was 99-1 and Chief Wallabee, who completed the superfecta, was 19-1.
The Preakness is set for May 16 at Laurel Park.
