ANALYSIS

We’ll give the nod to speed-of-the-speed #3 Fiber and Emily (3-1) in this allowance-optional claiming contest. The William Atkins trainee had a three-race win streak snapped last out when fourth in the Confucius Say behind No Change and Penguin Power, but no shame in losing to that crowd. This seven-year-old’s already got nine career wins and could add to that total… #1 Bubba Grump (7-2) emptied out late last time out in an allowance contest but has plenty of efforts that compete with these. Trainer Javier Contreras gave him a bit of break after that, and he’ll make his first start since March 19 here. That’s probably wise: this one seems to do his best running fresh… #4 Outlier (4-1) romped by nine in his first local try but was beaten last out as the 6-5 favorite. Both those efforts were in three-turn races, and he’ll make his third start in a 15-day period here… #6 Combination (5-2) enters on a two-race win streak…

Top choice #2 Drive by Layover (6-1) made his first start in 10 months a winning one, graduating by a neck last out. That was also his first start with blinkers on and first in Dale Capuano’s barn, and signs look positive for continued improvement… Good effort to rally into third last out by #4 The Honorable One (2-1) at Parx, and the class relief he’ll see here should aid the cause. His lone win to date came in a Penn National maiden contest… #6 Jasontakeslong (9-5) graduated by a dozen lengths over the strip back in February. He ran second last out to repeat winner Rustys Gfivefifty in a Laurel claiming event and should be forwardly placed here… Jasontakeslong is one of two from the Farrior barn; the other is #5 Midnight Shift (9-2)…
