| Race 5 | 1-8-6-7 | Top choice #1 Corky’s Cause (6-1) was left with a lot to do after he broke slowly and got bounced around leaving the gate last time. That was his debut, and he ran on willingly for fourth. He’ll get Lasix on for this one, and note that jockey Victor Carrasco, leading rider at Laurel currently, comes in for just this one mount… Decent effort last time on the stretchout to two turns by #8 Mischievous Jones (7-2), as he passed a couple late to grab third. With only two starts in the bank, he still has plenty of room for improvement… #6 Twisted Ride (3-1) had some gate issues before rallying to be third on debut. If they can calm him down, he can step forward today… #7 Mackenzie’s Nova (4-1) was a pretty good second last out and can improve in his second start off a four-month break… |
| Race 6 | 6-8-5-2 | #6 Wendy’s Fine Wine (6-1) ran a clunker last out against similar, but prior to that she’d been moving in the right direction with back-to-back wins. Trainer Danny Velazquez has a good record bringing horses back off a break, and this one will resume the use of Lasix… #8 I’ll Make It Coach (3-1) arrives in good form with a win last out and three straight in-the-money finishes. But note that two back she finished behind our top choice, and the odds separation points us in that direction… #5 Artie’s Rose (7-2) ran a good one two back and will need to get back to that form here, but he’s made a bit of a career of seconditis (six times in 18 starts versus two wins)… #2 Obstinate (5-2) is another who’ll be looking to recapture better form after a disappointing try in last… |
