RACE 1
6-4-1-5
In the Saturday night opener, a one-turn maiden special weight for state-bred two-year-olds, #6 Windsors Tail (3-1) makes career debut for trainer Tim Grams and gets favorable outside draw for initial outing. #4 Thunder Kitten (9-5) was good fourth in debut outing for trainer Javier Contreras and should improve off that effort. #1 Ryan’s Sword (5-2) makes career debut off solid gate drills and will need to show ample speed from inside slot. #5 With Secret Energy (10-1) also makes initial start off series of modest works and merits upset chance.
RACE 2
1-2-3-4
In this two-turn event for $5,000 claimers, #1 I’m Excee (9-5) has been second in each of last two and looks poised to prevail with favorable rail draw here. #2 Ellie Bear (7-2) won two back and gives Contreras chance to sweep early daily double. #3 Lookin Back (5-1) graduated against maiden claimers last out and rates an upset chance for trainer Mike E. Butts. #4 Asbuilt (7-5) has been fourth in each of last three and pattern might hold here.
- What we learned on Maryland Juvenile Stakes dayHere’s what we learned at Laurel Park for Saturday’s Maryland Juvenile and Maryland Juvenile Filly Stakes.
RACE 3
2-6-1-7
In this two-turn maiden special weight event for freshman fillies, #2 Moody Woman (2-1) has been second in each of her first two starts for trainer Anthony Farrior and looks destined to shed bridesmaid status here. #6 Bipartisan Brooke (7-2) was second in debut outing and gives Farrior solid chance to run one-two in this spot. #1 Timeisgolden (5-1) gets favorable inside draw for trainer Stacey Viands of Parisian Diva fame and could play a genuine spoiler role. #7 Stacias Ruby (6-1) was good third in debut outing and gives Greg Viands chance to outshine dad here.
RACE 4
2-3-1-4
In this rare, three-turn event for $5,000 claimers, #2 Nova Boy (9-5) returns from Maryland for trainer Mike Jones, Jr. and looks poised to regain winning ways. #3 Envision Success (7-2) arrives freshened off three-month break and rates mild upset chance. #1 Carmelo (6-5) won last out and gets favorable inside draw seeking second straight for Farrior. #4 C B Bodemeister (15-1) has finished sixth in each of four seasonal tries but could round out gimmicks at a big price.
RACE 5
6-2-3-5
In the second one-turn maiden special weight event for state-breds on the card, #6 Coastal Mission (7-5) arrives off a series of sharp workouts for Runco, and full-brother to Lewisfield looks set to graduate at first asking. #2 Felicias Castle (3-1) also makes debut for Grams and rates mild upset chance here. #3 One Night Mike (2-1) also makes initial outing for Contreras and looms a serious threat in this spot. #5 Change Your Luck (8-1) arrives off two modest efforts for trainer Crystal Pickett but could improve with outside draw.
RACE 6
2-4-1-6
In this two-turn event for $4,000 claimers, #2 Miss Chloe G (4-1) arrives off belated seasonal debut at Timonium and should improve off that outing for Pickett. #4 Mae Sai Princess (4-5) was sharp second last out for trainer Ronney Brown and could be the shortest-priced favorite on the card. #1 Fonda Romana (5-1) was solid second last out and rates an upset chance here. #6 Ladyofdragonstone (6-1) has been second three times and third three times and makes local debut for trainer Bruce Kravets.
- Maryland Juvenile: A mystery solved, decades laterSaturday’s Maryland Juvenile Stakes should be a fun race, but it’s unlikely to launch the careers of two Classic winners, like the 1982 edition did.
RACE 7
1-4-6-7
In this two-turn allowance for older males, #1 Stretch The Truth (9-5) was sharp second in last outing at Timonium and gets favorable inside draw for Farrior. #4 Saltee Stark (2-1) makes second local try for Brown and could forge mild upset in this spot. #6 Cayenne Creek (4-1) has been consistent sort all season and looks to rebound from latest try for trainer Lee Couchenour. #7 Bop Marley (8-1) won last out against claiming company and seeks to continue winning ways here for Contreras.
RACE 8
1-3-5-6
In the Saturday night finale, a two-turn outing for $5,000 claimers, #1 Lookin’ Smart (9-2) won last out for Runco and looks to attain second straight score here with favorable inside draw. #3 Elevated Forever (4-1) also won last out but is seeking to overcome 21-month layoff for second straight. #5 Swing Your Sword (3-1) was solid second last out and looms the logical favorite in this spot. #6 Happy Champ (7-2) gives Brown a modest chance to sweep the late daily double.
LATEST NEWS
1st.I don’t like the outside for 2 year olds,
so think “Windsors Tail”will fail,I won’t throw myself
on “Ryan’s Sword”who can win the big award but that
“Thunder Kitten”could make some serious noise.
2nd.I can’t see “I’m Excee”,but putting my thinking cap on
“Sarah Bellum”may be”Looking Back”at the pack.
3rd.That”Moody Woman”should be avoided is”Wicked Wisdom”
but if you;re smart you know”Timeisgolden” to be beholden.
4th.I”Envision Success”for”Nova Boy”to bring joy
and”Carmelo”to blow it.
Nothing exciting in the first four,
we both scored fairly well with chalks.
My”Sarah Bellum”aches.
5th.”Change Your Luck and get a “Leg Up”
with a buck on”One Night Mike” to strike.
6th.”Mae Sai Princess”is a “Courtly Kitty”who
I don’t like one itty bitty.I’ll go for”Miss Chloe G”
7th.I’ll”Flat Rate”,”Stretch The Truth” as the best
but won’t hardly”Bop Marley”.
8th.I’m in the”Happy Champ”camp
but”Lookin Smart’could come up”Flaming Hot”in this spot.
The Racing Biz is killing the odds at Charlestown.
