From a Monmouth Park release

Jockey Trevor McCarthy was transported to Saint Barnabas/Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch after his mount Literary Lady reared back and hit him in the head prior to Monmouth’s 1st race Sunday afternoon.

“He went for a precautionary neurological evaluation for a possible concussion,” said Dr. Angelo Chinnici, Medical Director for the racetrack. “Tests will include a CAT scan to determine the extent of any injuries.”

McCarthy, a native of Wilmington, Del., has ridden 40 winners from 230 mounts, good for second in the overall Monmouth standings.
