Charles Town will switch two West Virginia-bred stakes that are “Win and You’re In” for West Virginia Breeders Classics to its Charles Town Oaks card September 17.
Continuing bad weather means continuing bad news for Charles Town horsemen, as the track has canceled its Friday and Saturday cards.
Charles Town has canceled its Wednesday and Thursday cards because continuing precipitation has delayed its track resurfacing.
The resurfacing of Charles Town’s racing strip – already troubled by the discovery of rocks in the surface – is being further delayed by steady rain the last two weeks.
Because of issues with the track surface, Charles Town will not run either of the cards scheduled for this weekend.
The Budweiser clydesdales will visit Charles Town in mid-May, between the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness.
