CT: Jack Carson turns tables in WV Juvenile
Dominates Moscarelli winner Call Me Micky J.
Last night, four weeks after his late rally fell a half-length short in the West Virginia Vincent Moscarelli Memorial Breeders Classic, Jack Carson turned the tables on Call Me Micky J.
The two-year-old Mitole colt took over near the eighth pole and drew away to a resounding, 9 1/2-length victory in the $75,000 West Virginia Juvenile Stakes for his second win in four starts.

It was the first stakes triumph for Jack Carson, who has earned $94,868.
Call Me Micky J., owned and trained by John Salzman, Jr., has won three of seven starts, including two stakes wins at Charles Town, and has earnings of $126,850.

Though Call Me Micky J. had bested Jack Carson in the 6 ½-furlong Moscarelli – and though he had been the 6-5 favorite that day, while Jack Carson went off at 9-2 – the betting public ignored those facts, as well as Jack Carson’s reluctance to load Saturday, and made Jack Carson the 3-5 post time favorite. Call Me Micky J. went off at even-money, while Dry Martini Again was 7-1.
Candyforthegirls was scratched, leaving a field of just three runners.
Despite his reluctance to load, Jack Carson was ready to go once the gates opened. After breaking slightly outward, he quickly straightened away and went up to press the pace set by Call Me Micky J. The duo was just a half-length apart after a quarter-mile in 23.47 seconds and a half in 47.27. Dry Martini Again had already been left far behind.
Jockey Arnaldo Bocachica put Jack Carson to the attack midway on the far turn, and by the time the field turned for home, he had opened a clear lead on his rival. He widened that lead to the wire, finishing far ahead of Call Me Micky J., who, in turn, was 9 ¼ lengths clear of Dry Martini Again.
Running time for seven furlongs on a fast main track was 1:26.98. Jack Carson paid $3.20 to win and topped an exacta that returned $2.00 for a one-dollar wager.
Jack Carson is out of the multiple stakes-winning Ghostzapper mare Elghayoor. He is a Coleswood Farm homebred and is trained by Jeff Runco.
