RACE 1: MAIDEN CLAIMING $20,000, 3, 4, AND 5-YEAR-OLDS, 5 1/2 FURLONGS (GRASS)

11-7-4-6

#11 Miztergrandcentral (12-1) was well-backed in his grass debut against better last out, rated near the pace after an awkward break, and ran on evenly late. That was his first race off a five-month layoff; further improvement likely means victory. #7 Contrivance (2-1) did improve sharply second off the bench last out, running a strong brisnet figure of 73 when fifth against better. There’s some cheap speed drawn to his inside, against which he can press and pounce. #4 Kinda Fonda Wonda (10-1) has some of the best late pace figures in the field, and got up for third off a fast pace with a career-best 61 last out.

RACE 2: CLAIMING $12,500 (CONDITIONED), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 6 FURLONGS

7-5-2-6

#7 Ascendance (8-5) consistently runs the fastest figures in the race, having earned either a 77 or a 78 in four of his last five races. He was no match for better after a rough break last out, but his usual race beats these without drama. #5 Bold Honor (3-1) cleared his non-winners of two condition in impressive style last out, drawing off after an early duel to win with an 86. That’s ten points faster than anything he’s run before, so while he can afford to decline a few points and still win, it’s no guarantee he can come close to duplicating it. #2 Dublshotofcourage (7-2) rated off the pace and got up to win at Charles town last out. He hasn’t run well on this track in three starts on it, but all of those efforts came with excuses. He should be ready to fire a peak effort today.

RACE 3: MAIDEN CLAIMING $45,000, 3, 4, AND 5-YEAR-OLDS, FILLIES AND MARES, 5 1/2 FURLONGS (GRASS)

6-7-2-4

#6 Granuaile (9-2) has shown speed and faded in her two starts, though her figure declined second time out, she showed more heart in the stretch and lost by only three-quarters of a length. #7 Party Is Over (2-1) goes second off a six-month layoff for Colts Neck Stables LLC and Jorge Duarte, who enjoyed success with their Maryland grass runners earlier in the year. This one consistently ran in the low/mid-70s on the lawn last year, and is eligible to take a step forward from ages 3 to 4. #2 Ariel Moon (3-1) adds lasix first off an eight-month layoff for Mike Trombetta, and will try to make the lead on the rail.

RACE 4: CLAIMING $20,000 (CONDITIONED), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 6 FURLONGS

3-5-6-4

#3 Order Ofthe Kettle (9-5) has found his best self since a spring swoon, with a career-best 88 last out in a game second-place effort. His only downside is that he might want more distance than this, but he nonetheless looks like a contender. #5 Casino Tricks (5-2) was scratched out of a grass spot on Friday to run here. He goes first off the claim by Anthony Farrior, and should be sent for speed by Arnaldo Bocachica. #6 Suga Steve (6-1) lasted through an early duel and won going away first off the six-month layoff two starts back. He should keep Casino Tricks honest from that one’s outside.

RACE 5: CLAIMING $20,000 (N/W2L), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 1 1/16 MILES (GRASS)

2-6-10-7

#2 Awesome Strike (5-1) returned to this track last out and finished a strong-closing third after falling far off the early pace. He broke his maiden here in an impressive effort just about a year ago. #6 Hurrying Home (5-2) also ran well on this course last year, just missing in a maiden contest last October while matching his career-best mark of 85. He hasn’t quite been able to seal the deal in recent dirt starts, but should improve switching back to the lawn. #10 Dancing Mischief (3-1) was flat at this level last out, but just missed against these types two starts ago.

RACE 6: MAIDEN CLAIMING $12,500, 3, 4, AND 5-YEAR-OLDS, 6 FURLONGS

2-4-3-5

This is basically a rematch of the 4th race on June 15. Six of the eight horses in that race are back here. #2 Skip Thru Da Fire (5-2) fought hard in the stretch and was beaten a half-length for all the marbles. She ran in the 60s for the third time in a row. No one else in here is proven to be able to run that fast with regularity. The possible exception is #4 Stormy Irish Lass (3-1), who finished just a head behind Skip Thru Da Fire last out, running a career-best 61 and improving nine points in her second start of the year. #3 Paperback Edition (7-2) set the pace in that June 15 race and faded, but looks like the clear-cut early speed in here, and should be tough to pass even if she gets light pace pressure. If someone directly engages with her (like they did on June 15), it might be a different story.

RACE 7: ALLOWANCE (N/W1X), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, 5 1/2 FURLONGS (GRASS)

3-6-4-7

#3 Sweeterthanwhiskey (9-2) swooped a solid Maryland-restricted allowance field and won going away last out, in a much-improved effort from her grass debut two starts ago. #6 Visby (2-1) beat Sweeterthanwhiskey last out in a non-winners of two effort, good for her second figure in the 80s in as many grass starts. She has lots of upside, and gets her class test today. #4 Wonder Girl (5-2) sat the trip at this level last out but couldn’t convert. She’s run in 80s a few times in the past, so we’ll see if she can round back into that form here.

RACE 8: MAIDEN CLAIMING $12,500, 3, 4, AND 5-YEAR-OLDS, 5 1/2 FURLONGS

4-7-6-2

#4 Dicey Grey (2-1) is one of a few first-time starters in here. He’s from a win-early family and has worked well for Jerry Robb. #7 Nippy Fitz (6-1) improved sharply second time out at Finger Lakes last November, and adds lasix for his first start since then. #6 Valore (7-2) turned in a bullet workout at Pimlico last Saturday and should also get action at first asking.
