RACE NUMBER | CONTENDERS | COMMENTS |
Race 2 | 3-1-5-6 | It’s state-bred maiden three-year-old fillies in this contest, and we’ll give the nod to a horse with one prior start. That’s #3 Full Moon Lover (3-1). The Ronney Brown trainee was a tough-luck second in her debut, leading late before being pipped by a neck. Any improvement would make her a handful in here; bug rider Marshall Mendez remains aboard… The Jeff Runco-trained first-timer #1 On It (2-1) will need to get out of the gate expeditiously, or she could face a long evening. Runco does well with first-timers, and his go-to pilot, Arnaldo Bocachica, is signed on. This one’s a full sister to Peppa Star, who is six-for-10 in her career to date… #5 Kom Here Girl (10-1) was an even fourth in her debut and has plenty of room for improvement. She’s a half to two-time WVBC Onion Juice winner Help a Brother… Trainer Irving Velez, who won at a 26% clip last year, will send out #6 Lucylou Who (7-2) for her debut. The Sky Mesa filly has been training at Penn National… |
Race 8 | 2-8-4-5 | The Tim Grams-trained #2 Cowboy At Heart (5-2) has been stuck at this never-won-two allowance condition for several starts — generally not a positive sign — but looks to have found a manageable group here after finishing second or third in three straight… Could it be a Grams exacta (Gramzacta?)? #8 Remys Showtime (4-1) knocked down the state-bred never-three allowance last out and makes his first start of ’22 here… First start in two months today for #4 Hopping Henry (9-2). The Juba gelding flashed talent as a freshman, winning the 2020 Henry Mercer Memorial, but he’s missed much of the ensuing period. In his last couple at the end of last year, though, he gave hints he might be cycling back.. #5 Derby Day Dreams (7-2) is another who knocked down the never-three condition last out… |
