RACE NUMBERCONTENDERSCOMMENTS
Race 74-3-2-5We don’t guess you’ll get the morning line price, but if you do… nothing wrong with that debut effort by #5 Mecedora Coming (5-1). The Jimmy Creed filly gave willing chase to an odds-on favorite and finished second, easily clear of the rest. The Blane Servis trainee has every right to graduate here… But do make note of this interesting tidbit: Dexter Haddock, who rode Mecedora Coming in that first outing, lands instead on #3 Seven Years Later (9-2) today. The Phil Aristone trainee has been training forwardly, including a bullet five-eighths July 10… Servis also sends out #2 Bellita (8-1), who is a half-sister to two first-out winners… Look for an improved effort from #5 Advocate Harbor (7-2) today. The Poseidon’s Warrior filly got bet but didn’t show much first time out, but trainer Butch Reid does well with second-time starters, and rider Pennington gets aboard…
Race 95-3-4-6If #5 Oxana (6-5) is what she appeared to be last time out, she’ll be tough in here. The Uptowncharlybrown filly earned her diploma with an 18-length win that netted her a gaudy BRIS speed fig of 101, easily the highest in here (though do note other figure makers see it differently). One question is the pace, as there’s other speed in here that might take some of the starch out of her… If that happens, a logical player to take over is #3 Tiz Gracie (4-1). A half-sis to Bellita (see above), Tiz Gracie had a useful outing last time when a rallying second in her first start of 2021. She can improve today and may get the right pace scenario… #4 Philadelphia Belle (5-1) was the horse Tiz Gracie couldn’t quite catch last time and will hope to outbreak some other early types… The late-running #6 Enough Love (8-1) threw in a bit of a clunker last time but had been in very good form previously…
