TRIPLE CROWN NUTRITION

2yo fillies, 6 1/2 furlongs

Crystal Veil took command early and turned back a far-turn challenge from On a Pedestal to win Saturday’s $75,000 West Virginia Triple Crown Nutrition Breeders’ Classic by 4¾ lengths at Charles Town. The 2-year-old Authentic filly dictated fractions of 23.49 and 47.60 seconds before pulling clear through the stretch, completing 6½ furlongs on a fast track in 1:22.22. The favorite in the field of seven, Crystal Veil ($4.20) improved to 3-for-4 in her career. On a Pedestal held second, 2½ lengths ahead of A Notable Nature.
