RACE NUMBER | CONTENDERS | COMMENTS |
Race 6 | 6-4-8-7 | Top choice #6 Kalenjin (6-5) ran a decent race, showing good speed before fading late, in her debut at Pimlico. She’s been sold and moved into the Farrior barn, which is winning at a 30% clip locally, for her second start. She’s the one they’ll have to beat… It’s not a great maiden field, which steers us in the direction of a first-timer, specifically #4 Landynonthemoon (10-1). The Ronney Brown trainee had a zippy gate work July 3 in preparation, and Brown wins at a 15% clip with first-timers… #8 My Best Girl (10-1) ran an even race in her debut June 25 but is showing a decent work in the interim and gets Lasix added today for her second try… #7 Chesapeake Storm (5-2) was third against similar last out in her second career start… |
Race 7 | 3-7-6-5 | We’ll aim at a mild upset in this contest with #3 Our Diamond Girl (5-1). The Tim Grams trainee was third last out behind two of today’s rivals, but those two ran one-two all the way around the track and may have company up front today. That all could create a favorable scenario for this one, who has won six of 10 at the trip, including the Fancy Buckles Stakes two back… Favored #7 Peppa Star (2-1) has won two straight and four of six overall, besting College Kid and Our Diamond Girl last out. The early pace should be swift, and Peppa Star’s the most likely survivor of that… #6 Princess Kokachin (3-1) won a local maiden contest by a pole before a couple tries in allowance company at Pimlico. The easier group here should be an asset for a runner who figures to be part of the early vanguard… Her form is a little bit in-and-out, but when she’s good, #5 Talent Expected (10-1) can run a little bit. Note that regular pilot Peltroche jumps ship to ride Grams’s other runner, Our Diamond Girl… |
