Laurel Park will cancel its Friday, February 19 race card, the track announced on Twitter.

The cause: “the lingering effects of the freezing rain and ice” that were the result of a winter storm that dumped snow and ice on Maryland and the region starting late Wednesday night and continuing through the following day.

The same system also led Charles Town to spike its February 18 card.

It’s the third time in the last week that Laurel has been forced to cancel. The track also lost its February 13 and 14 cards to a different storm.

The card originally scheduled for today will be run in its entirety on Thursday, February 25.

The card scheduled for February 13 — which included the Grade 3 Barbara Fritchie, Grade 3 General George, and four other stakes — will be run in its entirety February 20.
