“From the Spa” returns to keep you up-to-date on horses bred in the mid-Atlantic racing in Saratoga stakes

Friday, August 14th brings the $100,000 Perfect Sting Stakes to the Spa to be run at a mile and one sixteenth on the inner turf. The Perfect Sting has been run at Belmont for the last ten years, but shifts to Saratoga as a potential launching point for these talented runners who aim for graded stakes success. Last year’s winner, Uni, went on to win the Breeder’s Cup Mile for trainer Chad Brown, who has two entries in this small seven horse field that have never raced over a surface other than turf. Our Midlantic bred entry, Another Broad, will take her third shot as an MTO for trainer Todd Pletcher this meet, looking to get a leg up on her turf-happy competitors in the scenario of an off track.

Another Broad is a five year old mare bred in Maryland by Fitzhugh LLC and will draw Hall of Famer John Velazquez if the race is taken off the turf. By Include – Dynamic Deputy, by Deputy Minister, Another Broad has been waiting for her chance to compete for over a month now, but has not yet found the right scenario to run against stakes company on an off track. This bay mare has done her best running on off tracks, boasting an impressive four wins in six starts with a second and third place finish as well. While owners Farfellow Farm LLC have been anxiously awaiting the best chance for Another Broad to compete, she has been staying primed and ready, recently putting in a four furlong breezing work over the Saratoga track on August 9th. If the Perfect Sting finally presents the opportunity that Another Broad has been looking for, she will certainly be prepared to take advantage. Another Broad breaks from the three post and has morning line odds of 7/5.
