Charles Town picks and analysis: November 7, 2026
RACE 1: 5-1-4-3
#5 Zachamundo had a useful return to action when his late rally just missed last out and has better to run back to; good to see leading rider Boca remain aboard… #1 Judgement Day looks to get back to his spring form… #4 Logstradamus galloped in latest but may not find getting the front quite so easy here; trainer Meehan is 1-for-2 first off the claim…
RACE 2: 4-2-5-6
#4 Powered by Love hasn’t been great in his last couple, but we’re wondering if that three back outing, when resolute after setting what the chart called a “wicked pace,” took a bit out of him; far enough removed from that that he should be good to go and might be speed of the speed in this compact field… Veteran #2 Youthinkthatsfunny hasn’t won in a while but he’s still an 11-time winner in his career… Curious to see if they’ll send #5 Sharpasadiamond to try to make the early lead or look to press Powered by Love…
RACE 3: 2-5-6-4
#2 Mr Scatter makes his first start after the Hess claim; he was the only runner to make up any real ground last time out when closing from last to win against similar at today’s distance… #5 Head Lad ought to control the pace early here, but he had it his own way last time, too, and couldn’t seal the deal… #6 Tetched easily won the last time he dropped into nickel company…
RACE 4: West Virginia Juvenile Stakes
#4 Jack Carson galloped out in front of the winner in the Moscarelli and gets an additional half-furlong to try to run him down here… #2 Call Me Micky J. controlled the tempo in the Moscarelli and had enough to hold off Jack Carson, who was 14 clear of the rest; likely to have a front-end test from #1… #3 Dry Martini Again gets blinkers on after finishing a distant third last out…
RACE 5: 7-6-1-3
#7 Namaste has been making pretty short work of her conditions, winning two of her first three; last time out she was resolute in narrowly prevailing at this level but DQed for impeding a rival… #6 Bully’s Notion exits the same race as Namaste and galloped out with that rival after rallying late… #1 Box Top looked good in latest, unleashing a strong rally to win going away…
RACE 6: 1-4-5-3
#1 Chief Morter ran a good one last out when surviving the pace battle but narrowly unable to hold off a trip-sitting rival; seems headed in the right direction… #4 Flatter My Dad didn’t run terribly last out against better after a stumbling start; rider Jackie Davis got her 1,000th career win the other night… #5 Market Watch tries a one-turn dash for the first time in his career…
RACE 7: 1-4-2-5
#1 Won Ton made a bid last but was rebuffed by winner Chasing Sunsets, who’d controlled the pace throughout; lightly raced sort’s two defeats have come in Laurel’s Xtra Heat Stakes and then last out following an eight-month break… #4 Belle ofthe Wood might be forging her way back to better form after an improved outing in latest and could use tactical speed to good advantage in a race short on early lick… #2 Quality of Essence has a first and a third in two local tries but last out was no match for the winner or our top selection here…
RACE 8: 7-3-2-1
#7 Improbable Dream caught the eye in last-out graduation score when dueling between rivals who finished fourth and seventh while this one was drawing away… #3 Revolution Rock was fractious in the gate and then slowest away last out; draw a line through that, and his form looks just fine in here… #2 Hamdoun has been second three straight versus similar and eight times so far this year, which is both an endorsement and a criticism…
