Delaware Park Casino, the Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (DTHA), Delaware Jockeys’ Health and Welfare Benefit Fund and Delaware Park Jockeys Association presented $20,000 to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF).

The donation is funded throughout the live racing season, with jockeys contributing $1 from each mount fee and Delaware Park Casino, the DTHA and the Jockeys’ Health and Welfare Benefit Fund each matching that contribution.

“They are exceptional athletes, but more importantly outstanding people,” said Delaware Park Chief Financial Officer Kevin DeLucia. “We are very thankful for the risks and sacrifices they make every day so we can enjoy great racing.”

Delaware Park Casino and the DTHA also donated $20,000 to Mid-Atlantic Horse Rescue and CANTER Delaware to support Thoroughbred aftercare.

“The aftercare team we have at Delaware Park has done phenomenal work,” said DTHA Executive Director Bessie Gruwell. “They approach each situation with dedication and detail to make sure our outstanding equine athletes are appropriately placed to ensure they have a comfortable and purposeful career after racing is over.”
