Plenty of racing action took place throughout the Mid-Atlantic this past week.

Here’s a look at the “three stars” of each track:

REGION’S BEST

FIRST STAR: STORM’S WAKE. Colonial Downs wrapped up their 2026 season on Monday with five stakes races. The Old Dominion Oaks, for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/8 miles on the outer grass, went to Storm’s Wake by a head in an exciting finish. She raced in fourth, one path off the rail, in the early stages, while early leaders Fond of You and Dagmara set very leisurely fractions. On the final turn, Samuel Marin asked Storm’s Wake for run, and she moved towards the leaders in the three-path. Soloist, who got a similar staking trip, but along the inside, fought back, and the two tussled down the lane. Storm’s Wake wrangled a narrow but steady advantage in the final strides and won by a head, stopping the clock on a firm track in 1:48.60. This was her second win of the year, following a victory in the Appalachian Stakes at Keeneland in April. She’s a homebred for William Werner trained by Brian Lynch.

SECOND STAR: LENNOX THE GREY. One race later at Colonial, the boys took center stage in the Old Dominion Derby, going 1 1/8 miles on the inner grass course. Lennox the Grey made his stakes debut a winning one, leading almost the way to win by a nose. He made his way to the rail and the lead from post position three, setting a first quarter-mile in 24.57 seconds and a first half-mile in 50.80 seconds. Several rivals took swings at him in the stretch, including Chambersville, who pressed him on the outside up the backstretch, and The Big Con, who came storming up the inside. The Big Con put a head in front in the final sixteenth, but Lennox the Grey fought back and prevailed, covering the distance in 1:49.77. The winner’s now 3-for-5 lifetime and 2-for-3 on the year with earnings of $391,398. He’s owned by Willow Pond Stable, trained by Arnaud Delacour, and ridden by Mychel Sanchez.

THIRD STAR: JUST A TOUCH. The final stakes race of the Colonial meet was the 1 1/2-mile Colonial Cup for older males. Just a Touch, who won the Cape Henlopen Stakes at Dealware Park earlier in the year, added another stakes win to his credentials with his Colonial Cup triumph. Longshots Prevent and Benjis Benefit zoomed away from the rest in the early stages, while Just a Touch sat in third, five lengths off the pace. When the leaders came back to them on the final turn, Just a Touch took advantage and struck the front. While Carcano gave him a stretch scare, Just a Touch had enough left to fend him off and win by a head in 2:26.66. He’s won six times in 15 starts, with a further five runner-up finishes, and has earned $993,408. Florent Geroux was up for owners Qatar Racing LLC and Marc Detampel and trainer Brad Cox.

LAUREL PARK

FIRST STAR: GIFT OF GAB. Rallied in the center of the track to win the Sensible Lady Turf Dash on Saturday, giving trainer Suzanne Stettinius her first stakes win.

SECOND STAR: ALOGON. Stormed up the inside and captured the Laurel Dash later on the Saturday card.

THIRD STAR: ADERO. Drew off to win a third-level allowance dirt route by 4 1/4 lengths on Friday, in a race named in memoriam for Howard Wolfendale.

CHARLES TOWN

FIRST STAR: MALIBU YEARS. Moved three-wide and kicked on to win a starter optional claiming sprint on Saturday, earning her third win in her last four starts.

SECOND STAR: KEEN TALENT. Took advantage of softened early leaders to win a first-level allowance route earlier on the Saturday program.

THIRD STAR: LOGSTRADAMUS. Went gate-to-wire and crossed the line four lengths in front in a West Virginia-bred allowance sprint on Thursday.

PARX RACING

FIRST STAR: JAMIE NESS AND MYCHEL SANCHEZ. Teamed up for four winners on the Tuesday program; both hold commanding leads in the trainer and jockey standings, respectively.

SECOND STAR: FROST MOUNTAIN. Won a starter optional claiming sprint by 3 3/4 lengths on Wednesday for his third consecutive win.

THIRD STAR: AMY’S MUSIC. Continued a three-race win streak of his own in an open claiming affair on Tuesday.
