Plenty of racing action took place throughout the Mid-Atlantic this past week.

Here’s a look at the “three stars” of each track:

REGION’S BEST

FIRST STAR: MY MISS MO. The feature race on a perfect summer Saturday at Monmouth Park was the Monmouth Oaks, featuring a field of six 3-year-old fillies running 1 1/16 miles on dirt. My Miss Mo, who won the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes in her previous start, validated that form with a 1 1/2-length win. Sent off as the 5-2 third choice in the wide-open field (third-place finisher Jumping the Gun was the slight 2-1 choice), she quickly made the lead under Micah Husbands, setting a first quarter-mile fraction of 24.60 and a first half-mile of 48.88. Bodacious Bay, who also went off at 2-1, rated off My Miss Mo in the early stages and cranked up the pressure on the far turn. However, My Miss Mo dug in and pulled clear again, with Bodacious Bay able to do no better than second. My Miss Mo ran the distance in 1:43.29 for her second stakes win and third total win in seven career starts, to go along with a pair of stakes placings. She’s owned by Averill Racing LLC, Mathis Stable LLC, and Tristan De Meric and trained by Saffie Joseph.

SECOND STAR: INVEIGLED. Off an easy win in the Deputed Testamony Stakes at Laurel Park last out, Barbadian Runner was the 4-5 favorite to add another stakes victory to his resume in Saturday’s Yorktown Stakes at Colonial Downs. However, Inveigled, who went off as the second choice at 3-1, had other ideas. He led all the way and fended off Barbadian Runner in a thrilling stretch duel to win by a head. Barbadian Runner, who raced off the pace in the three-path, briefly put a head in front in the stretch, but Inveigled dug in from in the inside to win the 1 1/8-mile contest, which was completed on a fast dirt track in 1:48.05. That’s his second win of the year in as many starts, and his first career stakes victory following five stakes placings. Paco Lopez had the mount for owner Mark Grier and trainer Arnaud Delacour.

THIRD STAR: IRISH MAXIMA. The Thursday feature at Delaware Park was the Dashing Beauty Stakes for fillies and mares at six furlongs on dirt. Irish Maxima continued her impressive season with a one-length win. She rated off of early leader My Magic Wand in the two-path in the early stages, then made her move after her on the turn. My Magic Wand, who went off as the 3-1 second choice, fought back, but 3-10 favorite Irish Maxima proved too much, and she took command for good in the final sixteenth. She’s won four consecutive races, including the Ruffian Stakes at Aqueduct two starts ago, and has boosted her career record to 12-for-19 in the process. She ran the distance on a fast track in 1:11.57 for owners Irish Three Racing LLC, trainer Butch Reid, and jockey Frankie Pennington.

SECOND STAR: BRYAN TORRES. Scored a natural hat trick on Thursday, winning three races from as many mounts.

THIRD STAR: I CAN RUN. Captured a starter optional claiming route by four lengths later on the Thursday card for her second win in a row.
