Delaware Park picks and analysis: July 18, 2026

  • CARRYOVERS: None
  • POST TIME: 1:30 P.M. (note later post)
  • NUMBER OF RACES: 10

RACE 1: 2-3-1-11

#2 Protege won nicely two back coming from off the pace and last out ran better than you might think, zipping to the early lead and then holding third; drop in company and tactical speed both pluses here… #3 Cut Glass might be speed of the speed and could be a handful if outrunning others early… #1 Seven’s Eleven is a classy old veteran who’s earned over $440,000 and could sit a good trip today with the rail post and some speed to aim at…

RACE 2: 1-6-5-3

#1 Yes I Will, well-spotted after a maiden score two back, just missed last out though that was just a 3-horse field; look for him to be forwardly placed early… #6 Ready and Able did a bunch wrong last out, bearing out leaving the turn and drifting wide in the lane, but still prevailed over the 7-5 favorite, and one of his beaten rivals graduated next out… #5 Superlastingsecret returns to the main track after a good turf try…

RACE 3: 1-4-8-11

#1 Andolin was somewhat rank early in his last and makes his third start off the bench here; runner-up finish behind the talented McCready to close last season is the single best performance by any of these but may have to deal with pace pressure here… #4 Plenty On Tap just missed last out despite a somewhat challenging run through the lane… #8 Rebel Prince hopes for a lively pace to run into and ran pretty well last out despite a troubled start…

RACE 4: 3-8-5-6

#3 Magnolia Wind was clearly best in her latest dirt try three back despite the narrow margin of victory and has run well in two subsequent tries on the lawn; looks for stalk-and-pounce trip… #8 Infastuation enters off a win… #5 I Believe in Magic has been a voided claim in her last two but has continued to run good races; first start in over two months, and certainly if she runs back to that recent form she’ll be tough, but the two voided claims are tough to get past at likely short odds…

RACE 5: 6-2-8-7

#6 Will of Victory was a bargain rack purchase by new owner CJI Phoenix Group when dropped in for $16,000 last out and catching a tepid field, and she won like a good thing, bursting away to win by four… #2 Somme River has been moving in the right direction but will need the pace to heat up to unleash her late run… #8 Half a Deck ran a good one last out in her first on turf when facing better, dueling for the lead and giving way grudgingly after mid-stretch; drawn outside other speed here…

RACE 6: 6-3-1-4

#6 Maximus Magic arrives off back-to-back seconds at this level and should catch a favorable pace scenario with some speed types wearing each other out and this one perched off the speed to pick it up… The speedy #3 Epic Luck was terrible last out at Parx on the slop, but prior form was good, including a win versus similar two back… #1 Martini Martin has been first or second in four straight…

RACE 7: 5-4-8-3

#5 Kinda Clever drops to her lowest level yet, and trainer Matz, in the midst of a productive meet, takes the blinks off after this one showed speed and faded… #4 Hotter Than Fire has been competitive a couple of times at this level… #8 Seger Songs didn’t have the most comfortable trip when always in and among horses last out but was trying all the way; has kept better company…

RACE 8: 4-6-1-2

#4 Planet Clare has gone 2-for-2, both easily, since returning to the Brion barn and last out looked a winner every step; has early speed to control it or press… #6 Graceful Rose continues to run decent races though she’s been 20-1 her last two starts; Gorham’s given her a bunch of tries at knocking down the NY-bred first allowance condition, which suggests he likes her a little bit… #1 Fabia has been in the money three straight against allowance foes…

RACE 9: 4-6-3-5

#4 Tennesseehoneybee has been in good form (with one exception) this year, including a win at this level at Tampa and a pair of runner-up finishes in races that each produced three next out winners; should be the main speed… #6 Dee’s On Dow tries her elders for the first time and is 2-for-3 on the main track… #3 Candy Talking has caught two of the speedier local fillies in her last two in Sassafrassness and Embrace the Moment and run decently in both…

RACE 10: 1-6-3-4

#1 Awesome Pic breaks from the rail and should be speed of the speed; got back to winning ways in latest but must find a way to turn tables on #6 Miguel’s Belle, who’s finished ahead of her in two straight; Miguel’s Belle has been bested in last two by hard-hitting veteran Ritabook, a 10-time winner, and Peridot Pendant, who’s 5-for-6 this year… #3 Dine and Dash will hope for the pace to come back to her…
