Tonight’s Grade 2 Charles Town Classic and Grade 2 Charles Town Oaks were supported by a bevy of undercard stakes.

Autumn Stakes

Maggie’s Girl was dead game on the lead, turning aside all challenges until Thelastsay pipped her on the wire to win the 4 ½-furlong contest by a neck in 52.36 seconds on a fast track, with Party Time for Me another three parts of a length farther back in third. Trained by Ronney Brown for Kenneth Brown, Thelastsay won for the 10^th time in 28 career starts and increased her earnings to more than $215,000. Moises Santaella was in the irons.

Last Enchantment Stakes

The redoubtable Duncan Idaho continued his mastery over Honeyquist with a hard-fought victory in the $50,000 Last Enchantment, winning by three-quarters of a length in 51.80 seconds for 4 ½ furlongs. Duncan Idaho and Honeyquist have faced off 10 times, with Duncan Idaho winning nine and neither winning in the 10^th, last year’s WVBC Dash for Cash, which went to Time to Rock. Trained by Jeff Runco for David Raim, Duncan Idaho was ridden to victory by Arnaldo Bocachica and now has 18 wins from 26 starts and is another payday from $500,000.

Pink Ribbon Stakes

After a pair of near-misses in graded company, Foie Gras returned to the listed ranks with a splash, rocketing past her rivals on the far turn and drawing away to win the Pink Ribbon by 7 ½ lengths in 1:24.59 for seven furlongs. Off as the favorite under jockey Ricardo Santana, Jr., Foie Gras bided her time up close but off the pace set by defending champ Mystic Lake under pressure Overcome Adversity before blowing on by. It was the Mike Maker trainee’s fifth win and third in stakes company from 16 career starts and pushed her bankroll to nearly $700,000. She is owned by a partnership spearheaded by Paradise Farms.

Robert Hilton Memorial Stakes

Trainer Saffie Joseph, Jr. sent a trio of runners to the Hliton Memorial for three-year-olds, and though it seemed all roads would lead through heavy favorite Solitude Dude, a Grade 2 runner-up last out, in the event, however, it was the other Saffies who ran best, with Bravaro inching past Langvad to win the seven-furlong tilt by a half-length in 1:25 flat. The improving Bravaro, on the Kentucky Derby trail earlier this year, was a near-miss second last out in the Petramalo Mile at Colonial Downs, marking the second straight year the Petramalo Mile had produced the winner of this event. Paco Lopez was in the irons for a group of owners including Albert Ciuffetelli, Stephanie S. Brennan, and others.
